Strong Vegans Vs. Weak Vegans!

I have to say; some people are right when they say vegans are weak! New and misguided vegans consume the wrong foods, making them weak!

Protein intake is misguided in the vegan community. Many people believe they are a strong vegan by getting 40 - 60g of protein per day by eating rice and beans!

If you follow this trend, it will make you a weak vegan. Get most of your protein source from extra firm tofu, seitan, tempeh, and protein powder.

Exercise has many health benefits to improving your physical health and appearance. The type of exercise you do can weaken or optimize your fitness goals.

Weak vegans do a lot of cardio to lose weight which can give you a skinny fat look. Strong vegans combine functional and hypertrophy training to build lean muscle! For cardio, they do steady state and HITT to have an strong look!

Lastly, strong vegans are vegan for the animals! They stand up for what they believe in and are not afraid of conflict with other people. Weak vegans are shy and will say they are plant-based to avoid conflict and fit in.

Speak up for the voiceless and be a strong vegan!

Some claim vegan pet food may be less palatable, or may compromise animal welfare. But are such claims actually true? In 2020 we surveyed dog or cat guardians asking about behaviours displayed by their pets at meal times. Analysis of the behaviour of 2,308 dogs and 1,135 cats revealed no significant differences overall, between animals fed vegan or meat-based diets (conventional or raw meat). Our results indicate that vegan pet foods are generally at least as palatable to dogs and cats as conventional meat or raw meat diets, and do not compromise their welfare, when other welfare determinants, such as nutritional requirements, are adequately provided. Full study: Knight A and Satchell L (2021). Vegan versus meat-based pet foods: OOwner-reported palatability behaviours and implications for canine and feline welfare.

If I were able to go back in time and know what I know now, how would I have transitioned to a raw vegan diet If I could do it all over again? Well, let's find out.

It's never been a more exciting time to be vegan and plant based! The options at the grocery store are so exciting right now, but remember, just because it's plant based does not mean it's always good for you. Even though I am not a vegan, I love my veggies and I'm always cooking and experimenting with plant based products. Beyond beef is changing the meatless game, but there are some really exciting things happening with plant based yogurt, butter, coffee creamers, and cheese. Let me know if I missed any exciting vegan products! Mad love Bobby...Dessi...and Art! XOXO

Thirty days of going vegan is in the books and I have to say this one was a bit more difficult than keto for me as it took me out of my comfort zone. This Vegan 30 day challenge certainly surprised me in several ways and at the end of the day, I think it is a reasonable diet to follow as long as it's planned adequately.

If you have an idea of something you want me to cover in depth, please let me know because I take your requests seriously. We will be back with more Doctor Reacts Series & Responding to Comments so please submit more names of shows/episodes & questions you'd like for me to watch. Love you all!

This is part 2 of our LA Vegan Fashion Week 2019 vlog. We were VIP attendees of the first ever Los Angeles Vegan Fashion Week and experienced a first look at select pieces created by animal-free designers from around the world. The show featured avant-garde designs including faux-leathers made from pineapple fibers and apple skins, as well as other items made with sustainable practices such as natural dyes and recycled materials. I've been vegan for 6 years and training for 8 years. Here's how my body transformed in that time and what I learned.

My 6 Year Vegan Body Transformation - 3 Things I Learned

Here's my full vegan body transformation as a male, before and after:

About 8 years ago. I was a lost kid.

There was a video game called Metin2. I was addicted to it. I smoked cigarettes on the weekends and I often drank to black outs.

Sometimes I spent days without leaving my room - glued to my computer. Or my hookah. I used to smoke hookah when gaming or watching a video.

My big brother called me "the unhealthiest person he knew". And I think he was right.

Yet, I thought to myself: "Why change, if this is working just fine?"

Jokes on me. My life was deteriorating in front of my eyes. I was just too blind to see it.

I nearly dropped out of school due to bad grades. I was looking to become a lawyer and felt like I had no control over my life anymore.

1. Accept total responsibility.

You are at your current situation because of you. Not because of any other external circumstances, not because of any force that is against you. But because of YOU and the choices that you made in the past. Once you accept full responsibility for your situation, you can change. You can change your choices – you can change your life.

One time, still in my gamer, smoking and drinking time, a friend of mine dragged me in the gym.

Although I didn't like exerting myself at all, I noticed early on that the gym helps me grow. It made me feel excited about the future. It made me feel truly and sustainably good about myself. Something I haven't felt in a while.

The results of training however were slow. I remember I was googling 2 weeks transformation and was dissatisfied with my results.

I wanted to give up multiple times on this journey of my body transformation. So I had 2 options: 1. Throwing in the towel or 2. Learning more about what I'm doing wrong.

I chose the latter - so I had to develop an insatiable need for knowledge.

I devoured dozens of books on the topic. Hired coaches. Got my degree in the Swiss Academy Of Fitness and Sports. And stumbled into veganism along the way after reading the book 'Eating Animals' by Jonathan Safran Foer (amazing book btw).

I went vegan after 2 years of training and it was the first time I ever saw a sixpack in my life.

2. The value of learning.

Strive for continuous education. After finishing school is when the education starts, not where it ends.

Right now I am training for about 8 years and am vegan for about 6 years. My blood test results are perfect, I have a sixpack year round and I can run a 10k, do martial arts and train in the gym.

Being in great shape is an enabler & an amplifier for your life. It makes everything way easier. You have more confidence, you have more energy, you feel mentally clear and you feel in control of your body.

Here’s how serious I am about this: If someone would offer me $1,000,000 to go back to where I was 8 years ago I’d decline. No thanks.

Realize that your body is your vehicle for life. The better you fuel it and the more you take care of your vehicle, the better your life will be. This was a key learning that I took from my 6 year (and ongoing!) vegan experience.

3. The only true asset that we have in this life, is our health.

Without health, we can’t enjoy relationships, we can’t enjoy our family, we can’t enjoy our wealth. Health therefore should always be a priority and be reflected by our lifestyle choices. Where we spend our time, where we spend our money and where we spend our energy.

In this episode of FUEL, we head to new heights following professional rock climber Alex Honnold, whose jaw-dropping, free-solo climbs (no ropes) have cemented him as one of the most revered and respected climbers in the world.

Set in stunning Utah, Alex takes us along as he trains and preps for an upcoming expedition in Angola, Africa. We follow him to unique climbing destinations; Maple Canyon for cobble climbing and an intense alpine scramble up the south ridge of Mount Superior with fellow dirtbag climber James Lucas.

Before setting off for Angola, being a self-professed lazy cook, Alex shops for vegan snacks and drops by Gnarly Nutrition in search of light, tasty, and travel-friendly food to keep him powered up and at a high fitness level. It’s clear, no matter what Alex scarfs up, that by following his own brand of a healthy middle ground, the sky’s the limit.
